Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge
Easter Monday Main Duck Race and Business Duck Race (Lotteries)
Terms and Conditions

The organiser is The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge.

The Promoter is Mr Derrick Palmer, Glen View, 18 Becketts Close, Heptonstall, Hebden bridge, HX7 7LJ.

On Easter Monday 2024 two Duck Races will be run, The Hebden Bridge Main Duck Race and The Hebden Bridge Business Duck Race; each race will be run as a separate lottery.

The lotteries are authorised by Lottery Licence number SLO 077, issued by Calderdale Council.

Tickets can only be sold to persons 16 years of age and older, who are residents of the United Kingdom and are not members of the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge or their agencies directly involved in the running of the lotteries.

All profits from the lotteries will be used to support the general charitable work of the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge Trust Fund, registered charity number 513898.

Participation in the lotteries can be made by purchase of one or more tickets online through the event’s web site www.hebdenbridgeduckrace.uk.

Participants will be notified of their allocated ticket numbers once their purchase is complete, including receipt of payment in full.

The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge accepts no responsibility for tickets which are lost, damaged, illegible, from which the prize-winner cannot be identified or for any technical failure or event which may cause the competition to be disrupted or corrupted.

Any ticket entries received after the closing date may miss entry into the lotteries and therefore will be considered as a donation to the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge Trust Fund.

As soon as practicable after the event, participants with winning tickets will be notified by the competition’s organisers by email, telephone or post according to the contact details provided by the purchaser at the time of purchase.

The winning ticket numbers will be made available on the competition’s website for a period of at least six months after the races have been held.

If it is impractical to run the races as planned, because of river conditions or any other reason, a member of the public will be asked to select, at random and in a public place, winning ticket numbers from all the ticket numbers that were to participate in the races.

To request a list of winning ticket numbers by post please send a stamped addressed envelope to: Mr Derrick Palmer, Glen View, 18 Becketts Close, Heptonstall, Hebden bridge, HX7 7LJ

The result of the race, as declared by the organisers, is final. No correspondence will be entered into.

There are no alternatives to non cash prizes, in whole or in part. Non cash prizes have no redeemable cash value and may be time limited.

Full Terms and Conditions associated with any non-cash prizes are available at Benchmark Travel, 7- 9 Bridge End, Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge HX7 5DR (telephone number 01422 847 847) and can be viewed on its website www.benchmarktravel.co.uk.

Winners’ contracts in respect of non cash prizes are directly with the supplier of the prizes. The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever suffered (including, but not limited to, direct, indirect, and/or consequential loss) or personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the prizes or any part of them. There may be certain conditions attached to non-cash prizes. For example, age restrictions and or requirements for certain documentation.

Players should retain a record of their allocated ticket numbers as proof of purchase and will be asked to produce such records when claiming prizes.

Prize money will normally be paid by BACS payment to a UK bank or Sterling cheque, drawn on a UK bank.

Where the organiser is unable to contact a prize-winner so that a prize remains unclaimed for six months following the organiser’s first attempt to notify the prize-winner, the organiser may apply the prize as it sees fit, including re-offering the prize in future events.

By claiming and accepting a prize players agree to publicity which will be carried out at the sole discretion of the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge. All players are required to co-operate with the organiser’s right to publish their win, as and when deemed appropriate, and to provide proof of age when requested.

In the event of an error, howsoever caused, whether electronic, printing error or otherwise and whether obvious or otherwise, which affects the competition in any way, the organisers reserve the right to administer the lottery as though the error had not occurred. Where the organiser deems it appropriate and/or feasible the organiser will notify entrants of the error.

Failure to comply with any of these rules may result in the disqualification of an entry in the lottery.

The organiser reserves the right to disqualify any entry at their absolute discretion.
